🍌 Oven-Fresh Classics & Ice-Cold "Brotein" 🍦

Hi Reader!

We are officially in the thick of July, and I am currently alternating between "I am never turning on my oven again" and "but I really want a slice of warm bread". This week, we are doing a little bit of both!

I’m finally sharing a family staple that has been in my kitchen for years, alongside my husband’s secret to a sweet treat that requires absolutely zero baking.

I have been making this loaf for years - and I mean years - and it somehow never made it onto the blog until now. This is the one our family reaches for every time there are overripe bananas on the counter.

If you've ever baked banana bread that turned out dry, this recipe is the fix. It bakes low and slow to get a caramelized crust while keeping the inside soft and almost pudding-like. Plus, it actually gets better the next day, making it a solid make-ahead breakfast for the week!

πŸ’‘ Banana Bread Tip The uglier the banana, the better the bread - really. You want them covered in black spots, soft to the touch, and well past the point you'd eat them. That's when they're the sweetest and most liquid-rich, which is exactly what gives this loaf that velvety texture.

If yours aren't quite there yet, you can speed up the process by popping unpeeled bananas on a baking sheet in a 300Β°F oven for about 15-20 minutes until the skins turn black. Works like a charm!

While the banana bread is worth turning the oven on for, my husband has been busy perfecting a way to stay cool while hitting those macro goals. We lovingly call it "Brotein" in our house, and he’s finally sharing his secrets for making ninja creami protein ice cream that actually tastes like a treat.

If you've ever ended up with a crumbly, chalky mess from your Creami, you need this guide. We’re breaking down the "lazy" shake method, the customizable powder base, and even a whole-food version using cottage cheese (trust me on that one!).

πŸͺ More Ways to Use Up Those Bananas

Got more ripe bananas than you know what to do with? These are some great options to work through them:

A slice of banana pudding cake topped with whipped cream, fresh banana slices, and crushed vanilla wafer cookies on a white plate, with the LambertsLately.com logo visible. A close-up of a square serving of banana pudding brownies on a server, featuring a golden sponge layer topped with creamy pudding and a generous layer of crumbled vanilla wafers, LambertsLately.com branding included.
A glass dish containing a layered dessert featuring graham cracker crust, creamy filling, pineapple, pecans, and maraschino cherries, with the LambertsLately.com logo in the corner. Two small white bowls filled with a strawberry and vanilla wafer dessert salad, featuring fresh sliced strawberries mixed into a creamy, whipped base, branded with the LambertsLately.com logo.
  • Banana Pudding Poke Cake - All the flavors of classic banana pudding in a soft, creamy poke cake. A crowd-pleaser every single time.
  • Banana Pudding Brownies - Fudgy brownies with that creamy banana pudding twist. A rich, unexpected combo that really works.
  • Banana Split Cake - No oven needed for this one. Layers of banana, pineapple, cream cheese, and whipped topping make it a perfect summer dessert.
  • Strawberry Banana Cheesecake Salad - A creamy, fruit-forward dessert salad that comes together fast and disappears even faster at potlucks.

Midway through July and I'm still finding reasons to avoid the heat - but I promise, that loaf of bread and a cold pint of protein ice cream are the perfect pair to get you through the week!
